Jalapeño Sweet Potato Fries!

Sweet & Savory!! These Jalapeño Sweet Potato Fries will put the boring French Fry to Shame!

Now, an easy way to do simple sweet potato fries is to just cut, fry and serve. But I wanted these to have a spicy twist!

What you will need: Sweet Potato, Fresh Jalapeño, Egg, Worcestershire Sauce, Flour, Chili Powder, Cumin, Paprika, Vegetable Oil, Salt & Pepper.

----------------------

First, get your oil going. Place the oil in a heavy bottom pot and turn heat to medium high. Just eye ball the oil, keep in mind that the more fries your going to make, the more oil you will need.

---------------------

In a bowl, mix 2 eggs with several dashes of the worcestershire sauce.

In another bowl, combine the flour with the spices....you want enough of the spices to tint the color of the flour.

Lets get Slicing!!

Cut the jalapeño into thick rounds.

Using a Mandoline, slice the sweet potato.

(Yes, I am well aware that I can cut fries with the mandoline but I don't like using the fry cutter.)

Cut into sticks. Keep in mind, for a crispy fry, you will want to keep them thin.

Place your sticks in a bowl with the jalapeño slices.

Pour the egg mixture over the top.

Toss and make sure it all gets coated.

Now, place the sticks into the seasoned flour.

Into the hot tub they go!!

Make sure you cook them in batches, don't throw all of them in at once.

Potatoes and Jalapeños bubbling away!! Happy Happy!!

Cook till done! But you may be asking...Ashley, how do I know when they are done?

I don't ever watch the clock, so when I think they are getting close, Ill remove one of the fries and let it cool. Im looking for two things, if they are cooked all the way through and if the exterior has the desired crunch.

If no, keep them in the oil for a couple more minutes. If yes, pull them out and place onto a baking sheet with some paper towels to absorb the extra oil.

As soon as they come out of the oil, sprinkle with some salt & serve!!

Crispy, spicy, savory & sweet...These are a great side dish for any meal!!

My husband and I enjoyed dipping them into our Chili!!

Enjoy & Cook with Love!
